From Pamela Boyle, McCarren Park Greenmarket Manager:
I want to thank everyone who came out for the Apple Pie Bake-off last Saturday. It was a big success, and hopefully you got to try some of the submissions! The recipe for the winning pie (criteria was presentation, flavor and crust) will be hanging at the info tent this week. Grab a copy to wow your family during the holidays.
This Saturday at Greenpoint/McCarren Park we will have a special guest from the neighborhood who will be doing a cooking demo. Beth Bainbridge, local Greenpoint resident, is a Registered Dietician and Nutritionist with the NYCDOH Stellar Markets Program. She is an expert at all things delicious and nutritious and will be cooking up one of her favorite seasonal recipes at the info tent between 10 and 11am. Her recipe, and many other great recipes to try out for Thanksgiving will be hanging at the info tent so come by for some ideas! Locally source your Thanksgiving this year!!
See you Saturday – market is on Union Ave. between Driggs and North 12th. For more info, visit http://www.grownyc.org/greenpointgreenmarket.

Boro Hall and McCarren Park Greenmarkets to be Open this Weekend, Compost and Textile Dropoffs Suspended
Updates from the market managers of the McCarren Park and Borough Hall Greenmarkets:
I hope everyone stayed safe during the hurricane this week. The majority of our farmers were fortunate to not have serious damage in this past week’s storm, and Greenpoint/McCarren Park Greenmarket will be OPEN this Saturday. However, there will be no textile recycling or compost collection. Please help us spread the word to our community members!
We are updating the following websites daily if you would like to keep abreast of Greenmarket news:
Please come out this Saturday – our local farmers need our support!
I hope you are well with life starting to return back to normal!
We will open the Brooklyn Borough Hall Greenmarket this Saturday, November 3rd. However, we will not be able to accept compost or textile drop-offs this week. We are trying to get the word out and appreciate your help in spreading this message.
Looking forward to seeing you soon and hopefully this weekend.
